Volterra is one of the oldest medieval towns in Tuscany, rich in history and culture. Its Etruscan origins date back more than 2300 years. This beautiful and evocative village is located on the border between the Val d’Elsa and Val di Cecina.
The town’s history has left its mark continuously, from the Etruscan period to the 19th century, with monuments of great importance that can be admired simply by walking through the streets of the historic centre, or by visiting the town’s museums.
In the historical centre of this splendid hamlet, we offer for sale a portion of a 17th-century noble palace of approximately 500 square metres built on the remains of an ancient medieval building, as testified by the brick decoration of the arches at the entrance portal.
On the ground floor we are greeted by the entrance hall with dining room, kitchen, bathroom and two rooms used as a study. Continuing to the first floor we reach a hallway, a dining room, kitchen and three bedrooms with bathroom.
Worthy of note is the single flight staircase leading to the first floor, made of marble and some original 17th-century herringbone mouldings.
The historical building has intact and perfectly preserved wall and ceiling decorations. The decorations and frescoes in the rooms vary from room to room and sometimes even extend on the walls. The ceiling of two rooms features two ornamental medallions with classical subjects.
On the second floor are the habitable attics.
A storage room on the ground floor, cellars in the basement and a garage complete the property.
The entire property is in need of targeted redevelopment to highlight its enormous potential to become a period residence full of charm and fascination.
